What matters for project planning
This is the trade the Historic Development Commission reaches most directly. On a property in a designated district, the roof is a visible exterior element, and review can extend to material, profile and color rather than merely to permitting -- so confirming district status before a product is selected can prevent a costly reversal, and none of it applies to an undesignated property on the same street. The flood maps matter through a different mechanism: where work is extensive relative to a structure's value on a mapped parcel, additional requirements can attach to the building as a whole.

Verify the property, not just the city
Citywide context cannot establish a parcel’s flood zone, historic designation, permit requirements, soil conditions, or concealed construction. Confirm those items with the appropriate authority and selected provider before work begins.
